Best Eco Friendly Skin Care Products

Coral Isles Reef Safe SunblockColeman SkinSmart DEET Free Insect Repellent

Eco-tourism:

Tropical Places like the Caribbean Islands, Mexico and Sunny Florida draw millions of visitors each year for their warm weather, soft sand and incredible vistas, the problem however is the environmental impact of heavy tourism has on these sensitive ecosystems.

Environmental Impacts:

Only minutes away from world famous Cape Canaveral, Florida the 'Banana River,' is home to; the gentle Manatee, sting ray, and Bio-luminescent aquatic life, and it is being threatened from Algae Bloom caused from run off fertilizer and contaminants introduced from joy boating and other activities.

Places like Honduras, Mexico, Jamaica and Hawaii are taking proactive steps toward protecting their most sensitive ecosystems.  For example, you may find localities will permit only Reef Safe Sunblock, and may even require showering before entering their waters. In other locations, like Costa Rica, you may find traditional Insect Repellents are banned.

Purchase Reef Safe Sunblock:

While there are many products on the market, I have provided a suggestion of Coral Isles Reef Safe Sunblock (which is also recommended by the Coral Reef Alliance).  Whether you choose Coral Isles or another brand you should recognize and avoid environmentally harmful ingredients like;

  • Oxybenzone
  • Octinoxate
  • Benzophenone-1
  • Benzophenone-8
  • OD-PABA
  • 4-Methylbenzylidene camphor
  • 3-Benzylidene camphor
  • Octocrylene

Purchase Eco-Friendly Insect Repellent:

While choosing 100% all natural ingredients, such as Citronella, Lemon and Eucalyptus oils, may seem attractive, their effectiveness can be inconsistent, they often have strong fragrances, and the essential oils may not be suitable for sensitive skin of younger children.

The next best thing to an 100% all natural ingredient repellent is one with a DEET alternative such as 'Picaridin.'  Again, I have provided a suggestion and from the longtime, well respected camping equipment maker 'Coleman.'

The Coleman SkinSmart DEET-Free Insect Repellent has been proven to be both effective by the Center for Disease Control and safe by the EPA.  (See Environmental Protection Agency for more on Insect Repellents and finding the right one for you.)

Final Thoughts:

While these two choices may seem insignificant, when multiplied by millions of people each year, we can help to protect these beautiful destinations for the future generations to enjoy.  I am not an affiliate marketer, I do not receive any compensation of any kind for any product I may feature within my blog.

As a Travel Professional and frequent traveler I have found certain products to be useful, and in keeping with my promise to my clients of maximizing their travel experiences, I share only those products I believe to be of the greatest value.

There is a Surge in Counterfeit U.S. Passport Card Fraud.  In 2008 the U.S. Passport card was introduced as a more convenient and cost-effective alternative to the traditional passport book.

Today Fraudsters are attempting to produce Counterfeit cards as a means to entering the U.S. and much worse!

The criminals are inquiring about the victim's financial account details, requesting withdrawals of balances thru cashier's checks and even initiating wires. If you possess a Passport Card be sure to safeguard it at all times !

Airtags: 'The Ultimate Travel Stress Relief Product'

My name is Adriana Da Silva, I am a Travel Advisor in Longwood, Florida.  I write travel reviews to help my clients plan the best vacation getaways and packages.  I focus on Popular Resorts, Cruise Companies and Tropical Places that remain the top adult picks for the money.

AirTags: The stress relief product so Nice, I had to say it twice

I first wrote about this amazing Travel Product during the Holidays of 2023 (see Holiday Stocking Stuffers). The number one fear of travel surprisingly is not flying, but losing one's luggage.

  • For less than $25 each, travelers can use ingenious devices to track and locate their luggage via their iPhone
  • For multiple bags, there are value packs available.  While there are multiple manufactures that produce these I personally prefer Apple Products.  My entire Apple ecosystem has served me without any problems over 10yrs and the AirTag connects easily to the 'Find My' app
  • Once you are seated inside the airplane your peace of mind begins as you can open up your phone go to the 'Find My' and start tracking the location of your bag.  These devices not only give you peace of mind, but they save you time at airports!
  • Upon arrival at your final or connecting destinations, you can take out your phone and start tracking your luggage and be the first person reunited with your luggage at those chaotic airport luggage carousels

If you also follow previous Travel Tips I have provided, such as 'The Rule of 1' (see previous article) and 'how to save time & stress at airports' (see full article) you will be on your way to a Dream Vacation!

Essential Travel Product Under $25: Water Proof Phone Protector

Waterproof Phone Protector with Lanyard

(My personal Water Proof Phone Protector with Lanyard)

My name is Adriana Da Silva, I am a Local Travel Advisor living in Longwood, Florida.  I write these travel reviews to help the public and my clients plan the best vacation getaways.  Did you miss a post or know a busy person who needs a holiday?  Will you be their hero and forward this post. Don't forget to start booking your own getaway now.

Water Proof Phone Case with Lanyards

Once you have arrived to that tropical place, vacation spot, or your cruise ship, you will soon ask 'What should you do with your phone, personal identification and Credit Cards while enjoying an excursion, or sipping a Pina Colada on the beach?'

Especially for women, and wearing apparel like Bikini's, protecting these items from being lost, or stolen is extra difficult.  I like using the attached lanyards that come with these waterproof cases.  I can comfortably hang the phone around my neck or sometimes tie around my wrist for extra security.

For less than $25, this travel accessory can provide piece of mind and allow travelers to conveniently carry sensitive items without fear, or bulking up pockets!  I personally own a pair of 'Rynapac' and have been pleased with them.  Before you book your Caribbean vacation, check your luggage and make sure you've got one of these packed.

Essential Travel Product Under $25: Water Shoes

Travel Products Water Shoes

My name is Adriana Da Silva, I am a Local Travel Advisor living in Longwood, Florida.  I write these travel reviews to help the public and my clients plan the best vacation getaways.  Did you miss a post or know a busy person who needs a holiday?  Will you be their hero and forward this post. Don't forget to start booking your own getaway now.

Water Shoes

One of the most easily forgotten yet incredibly important travel accessory for a Caribbean vacation is a pair of Water Shoes.  They are are so important, some places like Dunns River Falls in Ocho Rios Jamaica will not permit visitors to climb the falls without!  (Full Story).

Many first time Caribbean holiday goers are surprised to find their vacation spot often lined with sharp, uncomfortable, slippery beds of shell, stone or coral. Before you book a cruise, you should know cruise ships are often slippery, especially around the pool and galley where drinks have spilled, or swimmers, dripping from the pool to the bar to grab their next Pina Colada.

This means unexpected injury often occur aboard ships and beach going, pre-maturely ending one's holiday.  Water Shoes are an inexpensive fantastic solution to keeping the entire family maximizing their fun.

Protection of your feet are the main point to wearing these and so you should consider the overall ruggedness, and grip of the sole first and foremost.  Water shoes do get very warm outside of the water and so you should consider the elasticity and breathability of the material you choose second.

Because these travel products are intended to get wet, water shoes will have a short life span.  Often the foot liner will wear out quickly, making them nearly disposable.  You don't need to buy the very best but you should definitely buy a pair.

Travel Products: Stocking Stuffers under $25

Travel Gift Essentials

AirTags

The number one fear of travel surprisingly is not flying, but losing one's luggage.  Now, for less than $25 each, travelers can use these ingenious little devices to help track and locate their luggage via their iPhone.  For multiple bags, there are value packs available, and while there are multiple manufactures that produce these I personally prefer Apple Products as my own iMac, Airport Extreme and Apple TV have served me without an issue well over 10yrs and the AirTag connects easily to the Find My app.

Water Proof Phone Case with Lanyards

Once you have arrived to that Tropical Getaway, or Cruise, the next question you will encounter is 'What to do with those expensive phones, your ID and Credit Cards while on an excursion, at the pool or on the beach?'  Especially for women's apparel like Bikini's, protecting these sensitive items from being lost, or stolen can become troublesome.  Using the attached lanyards that come with these waterproof cases, for less than $25, travelers can conveniently carry those sensitive items with them without fear, or bulking up someone else's pockets !  I personally own a pair from 'Rynapac' and have been pleased with it's simplicity and reliability.

Water Shoes

Surprisingly, many warm Caribbean waters are lined with sharp uncomfortable and often slippery beds of shell, stone or coral. In addition, the decks of cruise ships are often quite slippery especially around the pool and galley areas where either drinks have spilled, or swimmers have walked dripping from the pool to their lounge chair or to grab their next Pina colada at the bar.  This means unexpected slips leading to injury often occur aboard cruise ships, pre-maturely ending one's enjoyment.  Water Shoes are a fantastic inexpensive solution to keeping the entire family maximizing their fun.  Because Water Shoes are intended to get wet, they will have a shorter life span than most shoes, and often the foot liner will wear out first, making them nearly a disposable product, therefore it is unnecessary to purchase the top of the line, but you should consider the overall ruggedness of the sole, and elasticity and breathability of the material as protection of the bottoms of your feet are the main point to wearing these gear and Water Shoes tend to get very warm outside of the water.
