Why more people are turning to Travel Advisors

(Adriana Da Silva, Travel Advisor- Dream Vacations, Longwood Florida)

My name is Adriana Da Silva, I am a Travel Advisor in Longwood, Florida.  I write travel reviews to help my clients plan the best vacation getaways.  I focus on Popular Resorts, Cruise Companies and Tropical Places that remain the top adult picks for the money.  If you have stopped to read this article, you are both very smart,  and the way you currently think about booking travel may be about to change for the better.  You will learn a few valuable Traveling Tips.

There is a myth the internet killed the Travel Agent, and it is cheaper and easier to do everything yourself.  Everyone has been 'brainwashed' to believe 'if it's online, it must be cheaper,' and the tourism industry has taken full advantage of this.  There is a secondary myth that Travel Advisors are only for Luxury Travel.

First, Travel Agent commissions are built into almost every booking you make, regardless of how you do it.  That means, you will not avoid paying it, but the question is, whether or not you will receive the service, especially when service is most needed as problems occur!

Whether you go thru the mega sized 'do it yourself online booking' sites, or book directly, most suppliers have already built the cost of paying an agent into all of their prices.  It is unavoidable.

This means, that if you 'do it yourself online,' you have paid this premium thru the hotel reservations, online booking flights, hotel websites or other booking websites. You have done all the work yourself, and when a problem occurs, you will have very little help.  You will spend even more of your valuable time working to resolve problems when they occur, and they do.  You literally pay someone else to do their work, and due to the fine print online, you waive your rights to little or any recourse.

The big online booking company keeps the premium, they win!

Second, with more vacation choices and information being more accessible than ever, and even less time to wade thru all of the decisions, people are finding significant value in delegating tasks to experienced Travel Advisors like myself.

My younger clients certainly know their way around the internet, yet they 'delegate' to save time.  When I save my clients time, find them fantastic vacation packages with great deals, I exceed their expectations.

A Travel Advisor's client not only gains loyalty discounts as they continue returning to me, they may bundle their existing plans such as airline rewards, when applicable, with my travel packages and this compounds their savings even further!

Who should use a Travel Advisor ?

  • People primarily focused on the overall ease and quality of their experience
  • Busy people
  • People comfortable with delegating some control
  • Are long-term or relationship oriented
  • Not very price sensitive
  • Savvy people who understand that most people want to see, stay and do the same things, and don't want the headache of planning or handling any problems with their holidays!

Who should not use a Travel Advisor ?

  • Very price sensitive
  • Control Sensitive
  • Commuter lodging focused
  • People with lots of time and desire to 'surf' the internet
  • Market Mavens

Final Thoughts:

If you read my Travel Tip #2: 'Myth of Doing it Yourself' (Full Story) you will find additional startling statistics of how 'doing it yourself' is actually wasting most people hours of time for very little in return.  Please forward this post to another smart person like yourself !
